Steps In The PlanWell Process
Putting Construction Documentation to Work
From the bid phase through occupancy…PlanWell generates benefits for owners, developers, design professionals, general contractors and construction managers, sub-contractors and facility managers.

Final Design
- Two to three weeks prior to document distribution, the Content Provider supplies Scott Blue with an initial bidders list.
- Scott Blue will contact any new PlanWell users to introduce and train them on PlanWell.
- Scott Blue will begin constructing the project planroom.
Bid Notification
- As soon as documents receive final approval from the Design Professionals, the files are either uploaded to Scott Blue FTP site, or we can pick them up (either electronic files or paper documents) and we will complete the building of the project planroom.
- When the planroom is completed, Scott Blue will contact the Content Provider for review and approval.
- Upon approval, Scott Blue will immediately notify the bidders list via email or fax that the project is seeking bidders and they can “evaluate the project online” with the project permissions supplied in the notification.
Document Distribution
- Within minutes of receiving notification, the bid community can be online, viewing the information contained within those documents from their desktop.
- The bid community then evaluates the project online to determine if they wish to place a bid.
- The bidders can then easily place their orders for printed documents online from their desktop through PlanWell.
- Scott Blue receives and processes those orders immediately, and will distribute them according to the instructions included with the order.
- Scott Blue will log each order and post that information to the planholders list.
Addenda and Bulletins
- As addenda and bulletins are issued by Design Professionals, they should be transmitted or delivered to Scott Blue as soon as possible.
- The addenda and bulletins will immediately be added to the project planroom.
- An email or fax will be sent to either the bidders list or planholders list as soon as possible.
- Within minutes, the bid community will be informed that a change has occurred and they can review and evaluate it online.
- If needed, they can place an order online, or the Content Provider may choose to have documents distributed automatically to all interested parties.
Construction
- PlanWell is an excellent method for improving communication and coordination of documents throughout the construction phase of projects for all parties.
- PlanWell provides an efficient method for all parties to order additional documents, confident that they are current and up-to-date.
Occupancy
- As-built sketches and shop drawings can be added to the project planroom. Thus, making the planroom an excellent information system for ongoing facility maintenance purposes.
